I used to think they were overratedReview by Kevin M. "Kevin"on 10/24/13
Quality Price ValueI'm not a headphone collector by any means. But I am a musician with an ear for sound quality. I've owned many Sony's, Bose, Philips', and etc... I can honestly, I ALWAYS critized Beats By Dr Dre and everything they stood for. I thought they were overrated, expensive and just a fad. However, after taking an online survey for My Music Nation about headphones, I realized I wanted some new phones. After giving into solid marketing and the effects of a horrible week, I picked up a pair of the Beats Solo HD's by Dr. Dre. I immediately regretted spending the money soon after I ordered them.
However, as soon as they got my door and put them on my cranium, I changed my mind. Beats are bass heavy for sure (they are made for Hip-Hop enthusiast), but I have played plenty of Motley Crue, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, John Butler, Iron Maiden, The Who and even Beatles through these. They sound AMAZING. They have excellent sound at all levels. They are super crisp and the range is great. I was concerned they would be too geared to hip hop and R&B, but I've found them to be extremely versatile. I've been falling in love with them more every day since I bought them.
Yes, they are expensive. Yes, they are trendy and over advertised. Yes, they are made of plastic. But they sound absolutely insane. Best money I have spent. Would totally recommend these to ANYONE who wants some nice phones to throw on their mellon.
P.S. If yours break, call Monster and they will fix them for free. Happened to my friend. Had new ones in less then a week.
